Word and image
Humans are programmed to store more pictures than text in their long-term memories. In fact, according to research cited by educational psychologist Jerome Bruner of New York University, the average person remembers only 30 percent of what is read, but nearly 80 percent of what is seen.

Max Forsythe is a well established photographer. He gave us a talk on his work today that was extremely interesting, even though he was battling through a bad hangover. He proved to me that you don't need to do a photography course to produce powerful photographs. He believes in vibrant colours as he shows in his series of colourful houses around Ireland. This photograph shows an amazing landscape in Ireland and dotted in the middle a bright yellow farmhouse. He has showed me that producing a series of photos works well and gives meaning.

Jamie O'Neill
Jamie O'Neill has been inspiring me ever since I was a young kid. He went to the University of Ulster and studied Fine and Applied art and in my eyes he is one of the most fantastic artists i know. He can turn his hand to almost anything. This is a video is of him and his work. I just think its a real quirky animation. If you would like to see more of his work click on to this link http://joneillart.moonfruit.com/cgi-bin/confirm.cgi?todo=email;user_id=4006216034;md5=94e764de7c53e484a4ccdde8b3a40d02

Alison Parks aka Ali P is a really good friend of mine, who completed the Visual Communications course a couple of years ago. Alison inspired me to take on the course and go further with my education. Ali P did this 15 second animation for the Queens film festival in 2008. Its an excellent piece of work and reflects her personality really well.
